For the 7th year, Southern Illinois University invited Patty to speak to first year medical students and physician’s assistant students as they begin their education and healthcare journey. SIU incorporates patient safety in the curriculum from day one, and this emphasis is carried from start to finish during their entire training. SIU is a role model in the medical education community.
This two hour class with Patty is intense and interactive. Students say that it is something that they can never forget. Each student leaves with a stuffed bear that represents all the Michaels out there – every patient whose life that they will touch – to remind them of their responsibility to be the best that they can be.
An honor to share Michael’s story with future doctors at Southern Illinois University again this year. You are our greatest hope for patients and families!
